Tritium Monitoring Program in Water
The exchange process of tritium in nature
There are three main types of tritium in the environment:
1) Tritium water (HTO), containing tritium water vapor;
2) Organic tritium (OBT), this tritium is combined with organic matter and exists in organic matter;
3) Gaseous tritium (HT), generally only exists in the air, and the content is extremely low.
The necessity of monitoring tritium in drinking water
Each radioactive substance has a different effect on the human body.The effect of radiation on our body can be assessed by radiation dose.Tritium may be absorbed into the body through the skin or through water or food ingestion or inhalation to cause internal exposure effects in humans.In order to calculate the annual dose of tritium in drinking water, it is necessary to consider:
1) Tritium concentration in water (in Bq/L)
2) Individual average daily water consumption (hypothetical).
